I have driven the road between Dunedin and Christchurch so many times that it has become quite dull, which is a pity because it's actually very beautiful. Well, at least, the bit between Timaru and Dunedin is. At this time of the year there are stretches of ridiculous gaudiness: fields of canola just coming into flower.
The Spring sunlight glances across the yellow flowers

At a place near the Otaio passing bay there is a little farm which many people stop to photograph. Including me, of course

We are towing a caravan and the road isn't very wide. I stop for a while, but only a short one.

Whoever owns the property, as all good farmers do, rotates their crop from year to year. Sometimes its a grain crop which surrounds the little house, sometimes a leaf crop. Each makes for a very picturesque little South Canterbury scene. But I'm glad its canola this year.
